New Nissan Owner

Post by Feds »

Hello,

I am an experienced gear head, but have limited myself to Mazdas until now. The combination of a new baby boy and my old baby(1984 Mazda B2000)'s poor heater got me looking at the used car market. I came across a 1998 5-speed Pathfinder Chilkoot with 178,000 kms on it. Body and underneath are in good shape. It has a small amount of death wobble, so I am rebuilding the rear suspension this weekend.

Other than that, I've been changing fluids and belts and just making sure it is ready for another 200,000 kms.

I'll start a writeup of what I've been up to in one of the tech forums.

Oh: I'm located in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula, and you can call me James.

Adding a picture of the beasty:

Welcome James. :-)

Simon, I always think it is funny on your posts - there is a picture of a guy with a big, menacing 4" crescent wrench and snarl saying "welcome to the club!" lol! :D

It's ok. I'm a big Mazda guy myself, with a highly modified Mx-3 and an FC (or FD) Rx-7 on the wishlist...but they just didn't have anything that interested me in a truck. I'm been very happy with my Xterra and i'm glad there's this group of guys to have around. You should be quite pleased with your purchase, don't worry that it's not a Mazda ;)

Sadly, I don't own that wrench. It was in Bender's old shop and we were using it when we built my rear bumper. I was a big fan.

Thanks for the welcome guys,

Don't worry, I'm not getting out of Mazdas entirely. I still have my '85 RX-7, and my wife's '03 Protege5.

After 3 days of working away on the Pathfinder, I almost have it up to a good starting point. Then I can start ripping it apart and adding mods.

Well that's no fun! And I'm sure he wouldn't be here if he didn't intend on having some fun with his truck ;)

Oh, and on that note, check out so4x4.com if you want to get into some local off-roading. Mind you, they're pretty aggressive, reason why I don't go out often, cause I don't want to break my truck since alot have either trail-dedicated or barely street-legal trucks that they don't care to beat up.
