Hey Roy Welcome to the show!

I will start by saying go with the non SC, and stay away from the yellow Xterras as the paint is not only ugly, it is about 50 pounds heavier due said ugly paint! :teeth:

Pros: Power and easy to get more power. The nice badge on the hatch that says "Supercharged"

Cons. Fuel economy and the requirement for 91 octane or higher. I've heard the superchargers are prone to failure, but I really haven't read anything to say that. If you want a 5-speed rather than auto, they are hard to come by. Hard to change the plugs in 2 cylinders.

Don't listen to that guy. He wants to be banned or ignored.

I am not sure about X in your area but there are a few around here and westward. There is a black 02 X at a dealer in Fergus that has been on the lot for a year now. Should be good for negotiations. I also saw a red Frontier down in Acton (the Frontier being more useful than the X).

There is also a thread in teh buy and sell forum that list various trucks for sale spotted by folks.

When you find one take it to a mechanic you trust to go over it before you buy it.

I know of a girl in London who might be interested in selling her nice yellow Xterra. She has BFG ATs on it, did the poor man lift, has a CB, and has the side steps removed (in storage). Not sure what year it is - thinking '02, but not sure. 5 speed transmission.

I can give you some more info if interested.

Ron Who?

Welcome aboard to the board, Don't worry about that Ron guy, he is being ignored! ;) I assume you have checked out the auto trader. I frequently see X's for sale ( I know there is one in a lot here in Smiths Falls) and on autotrader.ca. Keep you eye out for what you want and low KMs, prices shouldn't be too bad.

I have the ultimate comprimise; I have the SE (=no supercharger) but I do have the "Supercharged" stickers on the bed sides. The dealership did this before I bought it; I have no idea why.

Nice!

Honestly, I've actually never driven an N/A Xterra since I was set on the S/C from the get-go...probably should of just to see the difference, but I like the S/C and am planning for a 2.3" pulley this year, but not before I get the knock sensor fixed, and installing a boost guage.

Welcome to CNTC! :welcome:

There is a lot of Xterras on trader.ca:
http://www.trader.ca/search/Results.asp ... =201&CAT=2

That's how I found mine X. Oh, and only reasonable color I can recommend is BLACK :P

Heh, same. 5-speed S/C models are scarse, there was only 3 listed for Ontario in total when I got mine. I looked again on autotrader just a week or two ago (in referene that apparently the US got the 5-speeds in 02 only) and still, I found 2, maybe a 3rd (it was abbreviated weirdly).

Well, you're not looking at an S/C X anyway, so this is just rambling off-topic :stickwack:

I tried to get a 5-speed SE when I bought my truck but I was told by the dealer that there was no 5 speed available unless I got the 4 banger.

Keep in mind that that was posted in June, of 2007...

And their hasn't been a new post on the board since Oct, of 2008, at least not that I have access to anyways.

As per the SC'd models and the 5 speed, if I recall, you could order one from the factory with the manual trans, but they weren't shipped to the dealerships that way.

In other words, if you wanted the SC, and a manual trans, you had to wait for it.

It wasn't any more expensive, just harder to get because you had to wait for them to come from the manufacturer.

That's why they are so hard to find.
