How much to lift my truck?

Post by ptbo_hunter »

Hello,

I have a 2003 Xterra se s/c. I'm wondering how much I can look to lift it and is it easy enough for me to install? What lift makes are good and which ones should I stay away from? I have a connection through best buy and wondering if they sell any of the recommended lifts?

Anyhelp would be great! Is there any Xterra owners near the Peterborough area? I'm always up for some mod questions or hitting some trails!

It all depends on how much you want to spend. You can SAS (Solid Axle Swap) the front end, which means totally re-engineering the suspension. You can get 6"+ of lift there, however it is very expensive, and not something you can do in your driveway, over a weekend.

Easiest and cheapest way to go would be a body lift. 2-3" kits are available, but the 2" is typically the preferred choice, simply for ease of installation.

You can also add a suspension lift to that as well, by adding shackles/leafs in the rear, and new upper control arms in the front, along with cranking the torsion bars. Either a suspension lift, or body lift can typically be done in a day....so if you wanted a REALLY busy weekend, you could do both.

As for specific kits that work better than others, I'll let the Xterra owners answer that.
