Hi, just to set the record straight....even though this thread is ancient...

This is my FJ, the Ghetto RTT was a one time use item, because of a trip where scorpions were common place. My wife was pregnant at the time and I did not want to buy a $1600+ for one use, even though my wife approved it. So I built this for her safety and it worked well for our trip.

The OP posted the original link where I described the reasoning behind this DIY, but I guess not a single one of you read it.

Oh and to the two posters above, yes I can afford a real RTT, just don't need it...also I did not strip a perfectly good paint job, I had my entire truck linex'd from top to bottom. ARe there any Nissans Linex'd from top to bottom??? How many people do you know who could do this with a brand new $30k truck and don't care that they just destroyed the value of it. So to say I probably didn't have the money to buy an RTT is a load of crap...get you facts straight before crapping on people and their rigs.

Here is a link to my build page if your interested.

Your truck is awesome.Always liked the army look.I would probably do the same thing with the tent as a temporary solution.

yep, truck is still awesome, and i still respect that rtt build! but ya know, swicago, you can prolly just lighten up a little as these are forums and people are easy to judge and you just gotta take things with a grain of salt, especially with just a picture (and sorry peeps didn't read the entire thread before posting, lol). if i offfended you in anyway about assuming not having enough funds for a rtt, my appologies...i know i couldn't afford a brand new rig then add the extra mods (but nor could i justify it anyway). good on you for linexing the entire rig, i hope you find joy in rubbing against branches and stuff knowing you got line X all over the rig! nice color by the way!
beautuful rig, thanks for explaining the one time use, makes perfect sense (also why i'd still like to do the same), cheers and hope you have many years of happiness with the FJ... :) your record is straight!
