Suspension Lift Kit

Post by X-Treme »

Okay, the lift kit is on the way. I should be picking it up from Katie's place hopefully Saturday morning. :woot:

Now, any volunteers want to install a lift on a 2005 Nissan Xterra Off Road? Maybe on Sunday?

The only special tool needed will be a spring compressor for the front coils. Everything else should be normal hand or pneumatic tools, which I have, and jacks and stands, which I also have.

Anybody?

This is what's involved

Front:
• Remove front coil assembly
• Disassemble front coil assembly
• Assemble new front coil assembly using stock upper bushings with new coils and shocks
• Replace front coil assembly
• Replace front bump stops with new parts

Rear:
• Remove rear leaf spring assembly
• Add new 3-leaf add-a-leaf to stock spring assembly
• Replace rear leaf spring assembly
• Add shims to new rear leaf spring assembly.
• Replace rear shocks with new parts
• Replace rear brake lines with new, longer stainless steel parts (yes, I have more brake fluid)

See, it's easy!
Watch it! I'm keeping my eye on you.

Dont forget to buy brake fluid. Your gonna have to bleed the brakes. Once you get the new lines in.

If I'm back from up north early enough, I may be able to lend a hand. I can bring you a set of spring compressors to the coffee meet though.

I was just going to do it in my driveway. It's not the best driveway to work on but I have big rubber wheel chocks so the truck shouldn't roll away to far.

Latest update!

According to UPS, the packages, yes two, are 'Out for Delivery' meaning, they are on the truck doing its rounds around western New York state doing its deliveries. That also means it should arrive at Katie/Chris' place sometime today as promised. :woot:

So, the plan is to pick this up on Saturday morning, of course I'll be spending some quality time visiting with Katie, Chris and Cody before I head back. :teeth:

Now, Josh (miner) asked about picking something up in Hamilton so, if that is still on, I'll do that on the way back. If not, well, I'll get back that much sooner. I'm trying to be back by 2-3 pm Saturday. :)

Sooooo, I'm going to try and do the rear Saturday afternoon/early evening and then do the front on Sunday morning. Damir is coming over on Sunday and I'll be helping him with his lift, front spacers and rear add-a-leaf, on Sunday. If anybody is interested in stopping by let me know and I'll give you my address or, if you have a GPS, just input these co-ordinates, N43 43.521 W79 30.31 but just send me a PM to let me know you're coming. I should have all the tools required but If you feel like bringing some, the more, the merrier.

I'll have cold beer waiting! ;)

Gino, I'll stop by to land a hand as well and I'll bring my SL parts too so we can mod up both trucks, seeing how all the tools will be there. :teeth:

That's fine Damir. If you're planning to stop by on Saturday afternoon, call first to make sure I'm there as I don't know what time I'll be getting back from Katie's.

Well, when you figure out when you want to start working on your truck, SMS me. And for Sunday, you better have the TV out in the yard 'cause I'm not missing the F1 race. :teeth:
