Re: Titan Swap Anyone?

foot in mouth, haven't really browsed the forums that much. in order to get an m205 he'll have to re-gear the rear to 3:36 which luckily comes stock in my Off Road Xterra. Makes it so much easier.
You could swap the rear end for a M226 out of an OR Xterra or Nismo frontier, gets super costly though.
My idea was to machine a stub shaft with a splined end to go into the stock diff and a flanged end with the bolt pattern for the titan axle shafts. it would work but requires precision machining and heat treat, even as a machinist by trade it's just too much effing around to keep the stock R180 front diff.
PRG Greg was offering extended axle shafts but they aren't available anymore, I'm pretty sure he disassembled the entire axle shaft, had custom center sections that were 3" longer then re assembled the CV sections. PITA though either way. Kudos to you and if it does work and hit up thenewx.org because there could potentially be a lot of people interested who don't want to cough up the cash for the M205. You would be the only person with extended axle shafts for 2nd gen Xterras and Frontiers.
