Need help finding...

Post by Bender »

Some Jeep parts.

Its a really long story, but in short its for a family member. I don't have much family, and found my Aunt and uncle and 4 cousins last year or so a go living only 40 minutes away. Hadn't heard from them in 15 years.

Skipping forward, my youngest cousin is fixing up his dads old CJ7. My Uncle was the president of a huge off road club way back and went rallying in the day ( we call it wheeling they called it rallying?). He was sponsored by BF Goodrich back then, and the plaques on his old dash shows he was good at it.

My cousin is really in to auto shop at school and is looking to become a mechanic. Plus he wants to get in to wheeling. This is where they are looking to me for help! I don't know jeeps well, and I am not a mechanic, but I figured you all might be able to help me find what I need.

What I need is, and I quote "a slave cylinder kit for my clutch, the rubber inserts are scored and leaking so from what ive heard, ill i need is a kit".

It has a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder, the old Iron Duke in it.

I need help getting him these parts, but I have had not much luck with the little time on the net i have had. Prices and suppliers is what I need you to find when you are surfing the net. He has had the guys at Part source looking for a long time now, and he figures he will never hear back from them.

I appreciate anyone that helps me find what I need to look like the hero.

Cheers guys
Jay.

He really should be scouring the jeeps boards and asking questions there rather than Parts Source. Unfortunately I know nothing about jeeps and their parts so I can't help much either.

I'll try a Google search though and see what I can learn if anything. I let you know if I come up with anything.

Canadian and jeep parts, might find what he needs here, or atleast if he does a little leg work through them (which after all is half the rebuild project fun) he might be able to get sorted out. If I get some time on my days off, I will take a drive up the road, there is a shop which has all sorts of fancy jeepsters always hangin' around, they might have somethin' too. I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

For anything Jeep he should really be in touch with Stu at Just Jeeps. They're in Toronto, but do ship parts.

http://www.justjeeps.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; But he has to call and talk to Stu - the linked page isn't going to give crap.

In the Fergus area, he can get in touch with Terry and Jim at the Howes/Reeves Chrysler Jeep on the Fergus/Elora Road. They're afiliated with a couple of clubs, JeepKings and Tri-City and should be able help for weird parts for old Jeeps. For this he would have to get his skinny ass over there to chat. They have a CJ5 sitting on the lawn for sale right now.

A general google on CJ5 gave me this:

http://www.jeep4x4center.com/cj5/menu.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And a click later I saw that a secondary slave cylinder is $62.95.

That should get him going.

Well a quick Google search gave me this page.

It's a start anyway. You weren't specific about what year the CJ was but that page has Jeep Slave Clutch kits for just about any jeep that used that part from a few different sources. I would check locally first though. Just Jeeps may be his best bet.

There is also this page or this page or this page.

I made a mistake - at Just Jeeps it's Adrian who has his head screwed on straight. If you go thru Stu you have to be really sure he doesn't guide down into the tank eater pit, if you know what I mean  He'll help out just fine, but you really have to GPS him into the parts you need.
