New Tire Set... Duratracs

Post by Anesh »

Finally I saved enough for a new tire set for my 01 X, I wasn't happy at all with the old set... New tire set are Goodyear DuraTrac's 31x10.50R15 on Pro Comp Rock Crawlers 15x8 3.75 BS Steel Wheels. What can i say, I love the new look and Im very happy now... Had lots of rubbing issues on the front tires since i dont have any type of lift (they will be coming soon i hope BL+SL). Cut lots of back fender plastic and removed front bumper plastic inserts + some more trimming on the plastic part of the front bumper, it still rubs on the back of the fender well at full lock, hope it goes away with the SL Im waiting for.

So heres for the ones that say "Pics or it never happened" (First time posting pics by the way, so bare with me)

Heres the old set

Thats plastic pice of the bumper at the fenderwell had to be removed

Tires look great. Ya might have put the cart before the horse. No offence, but maybe you should have done the SL and BL before new tires. Then you could have got 32s or even 33's. Don't know if you new that.

Nah - the old shoes were crap, and the rims were puke. Now he's up on 31"s, looks great, will drive better, and he can go up as far as need be.

Duratrac is a great tire. Love mine so far, they keep the truck glued to the road pretty well.

Yep, original plan was to get 32" but Dyratracs dont come in that size unles i jump to 16" wheel which i didnt want to do. And theres some other factors that made me chose 31"... Im happy with them. its all matters.. And i think 33" duratracs would be my next set when i have the truck more prepared for them and this set goes bald... Going slowly but surely on the mods... Thanks for the coments and input guys.. :)

Got mine from CT here in Ottawa as well. They were actually cheaper than the Goodyear AT's I usually buy. Price depends on the size and amount of plys you choose.

I bought mine a CT. theyr warranty seems to be pretty good too. They will fix or replace the tire no mater what kind of damage, no question asked, on any CT across Canada... thats what they said...

I picked up a set from the local tire shop.. by the time you factor in all the extra charges etc from Cdn tire, it was cheaper to go with the local shop..

I went with a set of 285/70R17's had to do the melt mod which took about 5 mins to do..

Im having rubbing issues when fully locked... I think its bcuz of the 3.75 back spacing on the rims??? ive done lots of plastic trimming... for now I just dont turn the wheel all the way and going slow on bumps... hope it goes away or gets better with the 3" suspension lift?? anyone??

They did. 5 mins with a heat gun and it was fixed. I didn't have to trim, just melted and pushed back.

This melt mod is for the 2nd gens. The 1st gens, you need to cut the plastic. In this case the rear of the front tire.or remove the plastic mudflappy thing for a little more room,at least for the time being.
