Noise coming from right front corner..
had family members and friends telling me lately that my right front end of the truck seems to be making a weird noise when hitting bumps. A buddy told me it could be something with my ball joints .. could that be the problem ??

Re: Noise coming from right front corner..
Is it a light clunking? Could be a sway bar end link. Ball joimt I think would be a more deep/low clunk or thudding noise.

Re: Noise coming from right front corner..
not too sure , I am hearing impaired so I have trouble hearing the sound , but I had one person telling me it sounds like something is rubbing when i hit bumps and someone else told me it sounds like somesort of clunk noise as you mentioned. I'l pay more attention to the noise next time i have someone in the truck and have them hear it carefully. Or even better have a mechanic look at it. Although I find doesnt affect my driving, but should i be worried about it ?

Re: Noise coming from right front corner..
Have a look underneath. See if there are any signs of rubbing. Turn the tires fully one way then the other when checking to give you a better idea of where the tire might be hitting...if it is a rubbing noise.
When my sway bar links were bad I did not hear anything but when I was underneath it was obvious that they were shot (I could move the bar easily with my hands).
Checking the ball joints is a little harder and helps to have two people...one to move the tire with a bar and the other to watch the joints.
(touch wood) my ball joints are original and were fine at the last check over the summer.

I believe it could be the ball joints. My father is a mechanic so next time i go back home to Cornwall I will have him take a look at it.

Could also be the steering stops, does it only do it while the tires are turned? May just need a blob of grease on the stops.

Re: Noise coming from right front corner..
No, not necessarily. It could be the sway-bar links. It could be a squeaky upper control arm bushing. It could be a mount for the front shock - mine makes a little noise as the rubber bushings are shot on the shock, and it twists a little on bumps, making a small whack noise. It could be the dreaded Nissan squeak that everyone gets every now and then but mysteriously goes away. It could be something else. It might be a lower control arm ball joint. It could be the UCA ball joint.
Here's what you do: go out to the driveway and try to create the noise by reefing on the corner of the truck. Bounce the truck until it makes that noise. Now identify where the noise is coming from. Helps if a friend is around to lend an ear and some eyes.

Re: Noise coming from right front corner..
Took a look at it last night, the sway bar links are like new and have no play in them. You can definitely hear it when you rock the truck, sounds more like a metal/metal squeak rather than the bushing squeak that I've had on the pathy. I suggested that since the truck still has a warranty where she bought it from, that she take it back and have them look at it.

Re: Noise coming from right front corner..
High pitch squeak? In the frequency of bed springs squeaking only more metallic? That is what x kid's ball-joints sounded like. It was weird, before that I had only ever heard bad ball-joints make a clunk sound.

Re: Noise coming from right front corner..
I hear the squeak in the right front corner whenever I release the brakes. It is a suspension thing... hope it warms up soon so it'll go away.

I aim to please! If that didn't evoke a mental sound example I am open to better suggestions.
