Skid plates now with PICS!!!

Post by Big Bird »

Today I went to a machine\metal shop and I asked him if he would be able to make me skid plates. He said for sure and how many do you need. I told him and showed him that I will be needing one for the front shrock bumper and the t-case. He said no problem. We got the measurements right on the spot and the sizes I need. All in all its costing me $200.00. If any body wants in I can give the number and you can deal with him personally. I should be getting them in a week and a half.

Yes John - I need a plate for my Heep. Send me this guys phone number!

I had a quote done about a year ago (at a Jeep place) and the guy wanted close to $500, so I said some nasty about his mother and drove away, decided I could probably go w/o skids for awhile longer and then promptly forgot about the whole thing...

So he made his own design? You don't need Morgans for fitting or copying?

No I wont be. He crawled under the truck measured the area and made templates of the skid plates. Thanks a lot though Jay. Tomorrow I will see how there coming out. He didnt have any normal 3/16ths steel, so he used diamond plated steel instead.

I am assuming he at least used the equivalent to 3/16 thick plate right? The diamond plate is good, but IMHO looks ghetto at times, but will hold up to abuse.

Yep it sure is. I told him numerous times to make it 3/16ths. Thanks for looking out Jay.

Could you show a picture of it from the front of the truck - like the view a startled pedestrian would see just before... :irked:

Just to see how it all ties in with the whole front of the truck, nothing more.
