12 years! EDIT: Almost 15 years

Hard to believe but December marks the 12th year of my Xterra and the 12th year of my membership in CNTC (formerly SOXC). Another year with my X and I still don't want to part with it! I don't expect I'll ever have another vehicle that I still enjoy driving every day for more than 12 years!

Anyhow I just wanted to do my yearly check-in thing ;) and say hi to those who remember me and cheers to those newer members I haven't met!

Would like to but have another event I am committed to that day unfortunately. I will have to try and get out for a local coffee meet again though.

Good to hear from you! :)

Yeah, I've had my truck longer than any relationship, and most friendships I have.

Well I have good news and bad news. Bad news is after almost 12.5 years it looks like I will be parting with my xterra. Good news is I bought another one! Looked around and considered a few other vehicles but in the end I just couldn't bear the thought of life without an xterra! So today I pulled the trigger on a smoking deal for a brand new one and according to the dealership I should have it by the end of the week! I will post pics once I've got it. If the second one is anything like the first, I should be lurking around here for another 12 years!

Yeah I have to say I am looking forward to that! I think the first gens were 175 so even though it doesn't sound like I wil get much better mileage, I will enjoy the increased hp.

great to hear Cracker! not to many guys can say they ran the same rig for this long and enjoyed every day of it.

out of curiosity, what did your X go for 12 years ago vs a brand new one?

I'd have to check but I think it was about $27K all in. 2001, base model with manual tranny.

Just out of curiosity - what trim level and colour did you go with for the new X...? :)

Good question! I was supposed to be getting a Trail Green with a manual tranny but it looks like the dealership has jerked me around :disapprove: I was working with Dale Downie Nissan in London and I must say that the way this week has gone, I'm not very pleased. Will post an update as soon as I know more.

May I commend you on your excellent taste, closely followed by threatening you with serious bodily harm if you get that particular rig... :stickwack: :teeth: Mine's a Trail Green PRO-4X with manual - and as far as I know up until this point, it's the only Trail Green in Ontario (and seemingly all of Canada, actually). For 2011, it was a very limited run with a tiny ordering window - I had to wait longer for mine because of it...that pesky little wave problem in Japan threw a wrench in the works, apparently.

I dealt with South London Nissan and got a wicked deal - let me know if things fall through with Dale Downie, and I'll hook you up with my guy. I have a funny feeling they won't be able to find you a TG one, though... ;)

Well Kermit, no worries, a Trail Green one is not in the cards :(. Apparently they have a metallic blue one so that is what I am going with! I'm still not counting any chickens until they hatch though....hopefully the story has a happy ending and I have a new X by the end of the month!

I'm sorry, yet also not sorry - does that make me a bad person? :teeth:

I've seen the 2012 Daytona Blue - it's quite bright, and will make a colourful addition to our motley assortment...

Again, though, and seriously - if you continue to have difficulties with Dale Downie, let me know. I work in the industry, and have some resources that might help.
