OBDII Bluetooth w iPhone/Android/W8

Post by xrover »

I have my scanguage II but I was wondering if anyone was using the new Bluetooth OBDII connector with a app on their smartphone?

I have a buddy with that, he hates it cause there's a few second delay and would sometimes display some strange data. I cant remember what kind he had but he paid around $200 for it.

I think its a cool idea but I'd trust the scanguageII over the app.

Yeah, I would imagine if I was going to spend around $200, I'd just spring for the ScanGaugeII and be done with it.

I bought one of these about 12 months ago..

http://dx.com/p/obdii-bluetooth-car-dia ... -12v-41925

free shipping to Canada and no tax/duties..

it's works great on Android with the Free "Torque" application.. I ended up buying the full one when it was on sale during xmas..

it's great.. use it more then my old scanguage II which I gave away.. for $40 you can't go wrong..

I bought a second newer/smaller one 2 weeks ago.. just waiting for it to arrive..

less than 1/2 the price $15, and it's lower profile and works great.

Ok, so at that price I am curious.

What kind of readings/functionality can you get out of this thing?

I did a write-up about this topic a couple of years ago, although it was just about wired and wi-fi connectors not bluetooth ones. I don't know how much has changed since then but you could take a look and go from there.

Did you purchase it from that site?

Yes. Shipping is included. And no taxes or duty.

There is a free version or torque if you really want to save $$$

So after some checking I found that if you want to go Bluetooth with iOS devices then this is the product to get. Although there are cheaper bluetooth modules many either don't work or are very flakey. I guess you get what you pay for.

GoPoint BL1 ($99.95 USD)

Cool, I would love to see you start a thread write up on this product giving the pros and cons etc.
