LOOKING FOR TRAILS AND PEOPLE TO WHEEL WITH

Post by PATHY01 »

Hi there, new to the forum.

hoping to find some people living in the area looking to meet up on the odd weekend for some runs,
i have a 2001 pathfinder with 2 AC coils and 1inch spacers, 31" general grabber tires, ready for some light to med duty off roading.

i had buddies with nissan trucks but they seem to have lost interest so im hoping theres some people out there lookin to hit some trails.

i live in northern part of york region, i usually look for trails in that area and kawartha lakes region, also minden haliburton, ill travel for a good run,

Also if anyone knows of some good trails that i could hit that would be great

Welcome!

Keep an eye on the trail run threads. There should be a couple organized runs coming up.

The best resource for trails is a membership in OF4WD. You can join separately or with the club during our membership renewal next year. OF4WD has developed a trail index that we all contribute to.

I wouldn't so that trail win just a single truck especially if it is just stock.

it's not that "hard" of a trail there are some tricky spots and IMHO you shouldn't tackle a trail you've never run without atleast another truck to pull you out if you get stuck and on concession lake there are a couple places you can get stuck.

And there is no cell service for the majority of the trail if you run into problems.

Never a great idea to wheel alone. Use the buddy system.

thanks for all the info, when you say getting stuck do you mean in the mud, l was not planning on doing any heavy mudding, it look like there were ways around the mud holes. mudding is fun and all but my rig is not set up for that. wanted to do some over landing and fishing.

there are some mud holes on that trail but there are also some rock ledges and things that could get you hung up on also

A real problem would be your lack of knowledge of the trail. There are many parts where you have options of travel, and with a relatively stock truck - and I'm going to guess not a huge amount of experience - you could quickly get into trouble.

Wheeling solo is a bad idea. A battery could fail. You could break a tie rod. You could have an electrical problem. And walking out is probably a two day event. You bringing that much food and water and good clothing?

You do have options. Sit at the trail head and wait for a group to join. It's a heavily run trail.

Or organize a run. People will join you.

thanks again to everyone on your input, I am rethinking the journey on the trail. I might hangout around the trail head and see if someone shows up, l'll be in Bobcaygeon all next week on a house boat. what are the odds of someone wheeling during the week out there.

Probably pretty good. A lot of Jeeps go through that trail. Many people stay at the lake. ATVs go thru it too, but they probably aren't the best trail buddies.

Honestly. Do not go on the trail alone. There's one hole (might be fixed now) that is 4' deep. And people (for fun) rotate the signs around warning of the danger of deep hole.

Scott.
