It is with great sorrow that I announce the death of my beloved YJ.

The frame has finally rotted through, and the rear leaf on the driver's side is barely attached to the frame any more. A repair is not possible. And so it must be retired. Goodbye, beloved Jeep. I will miss you....

Sorry to hear that, Scott.

I take it that obtaining a southern replacement frame is not on the table for consideration?

Love the square headlights. Can you keep it in a corner of the yard for a project?

I dunno. To get a new frame and swap everything over would take a lot of time and money. I'm working on convincing Jennifer that a very, very good CJ7 is "only" about $6000. The cost of doing the YJ Swap would likely come in about $5000 when all is said and done.

Sorry to hear that, Scott. Mine is getting pretty tough as well. Hoping to get a couple more years out of it. I certainly know how you feel.

Further to Wayne's comment about the vultures, are you parting it out?

I think that's what I'll do.

SBC 350, turbo350 tranny is the very very good.
Soft top in very good shape w/ tinted windows.
Warn 9000i winch w/ synth line.
Then there's the rest of it.

Oh crap! So sorry to hear Scott :(
I hope you can find another to swap over (perhaps save the motor swap for another day).
Give me a shout if you would like a hand pulling parts off.

Ok, I asked in case you were just wanting to make a change and me suggesting some repair plan that was only a modest amount would let her pressure you into fixing it.

I understood southern frames were not expensive? 3-4 weekends to swap everything with some help? I presume you thought of that, other things making you want be done with it?

Hey scott, this place makes pieces that are designed to weld over the bad parts on the jeep frames. One my friends had a 93 YJ and he used these to fix his. It came out great, and that was probably 4 years ago now. Actually, they make them for pathfinders too, lol

Funny you bring them up, Adam. I was looking at them last night. Have to do more research on the state of my frame to be sure it would work. But maybe is better than no can't be done.

Nothing is irreparable, Scott. You should know that after seeing all the WD21 surgeries over the years. :)
