You need to look around. There's no "rule" as to which site/shop has the best prices, it all depends on the part you want and the timing of your purchase. Sometimes one will be cheaper, other times it's not... I have yet to find a pattern in their price fluctuations.

I normally check these 4 places:
Rockauto
Parts Source/CT
Warehouse Services (local parts shop in Edmonton)
Dealer

Sometimes I'll go to NAPA if I'm in a rush for a part (they have HUGE stock), but their prices are never the lowest.

The only two things that never change:
Warehouse services is probably 50% cheaper for break parts (rotors, pads, drums)
Rockauto is a good 10-20% cheaper on housings for tail/fog/headlights

Rock Auto, FCP Groton, Napa, Dealer, CT/Parts Source, Car Quest ... In that order.

Always check around. A timing belt kit for a Volvo was ~$150 Rock Auto, >$300 Napa, and ~$180 Volvo Dealer. A wheel hub is ~$150 Rock Auto, ~$300 Volvo Dealer. I can think of a couple more examples where the local Volvo dealer was within 20% of Rock Auto's price, and that's genuine Volvo vs after-market parts. Starters for the Titan varied from <$500 to ~$1,000.

When the dollar was strong Rock Auto was a much better deal than today.

Usually Napa if I can, cause they have an awesome military discount.

Really, didn't know that. I really should ask more often if places offer a military discount

There are many options for buying guitar parts, both online and in physical stores. Some popular online retailers for guitar parts and accessories include:

Sweetwater
Guitar Center
Musicians Friend
Thomann
Reverb
Amazon
In addition to these online retailers, you may also want to check with local music stores or guitar shops in your area to see if they carry the parts you need. They may be able to special order parts for you or point you in the direction of a local supplier.
