Hey all , Just bought a 2002 Nissan Xterra , and found this site while looking for Canadian forums for trucks.

I am looking for active people in my area . as this is my second 4x4 vehicle i have owned , and first i am willing to go out in the wilderness with. I need to fix a few things on mine before i can go anywhere but i will.

Hope to have fun while here

Greg

I did check the Rookie run i won't have the Xterra ready to go by then.

i have the ABS light on but the truck has been sitting for a while , and brakes seem to need work so i am assuming ( i know assumption is the mother of all ....mess ups) that the two are tied together , check engine light is on don't have the code yet , aside from that , nothing else seems to have any issues , the clutch is good , 4x4 works perfectly , engine and transmission are fine . so not long to get it in shape to go on trails. its just time to get all the work done , get the safety , and e test done.

im hopeing the Ottawa folks do get togethers and trail runs , i would like to get out and about this year , i already get out to the car scene with my other car , but i want to have fun and enjoy the outdoors more :P

I had the ABS light come on a couple of times on my fronty. It was due to debris on the tone ring. Sadly the whole disk/hub assembly has to be pulled to get at it. If you can get the sensor out without breaking the blot you might be able to peer inside and see if debris is on the tone ring.

Faulty primary O2 sensors tend to be the reason for CEL but pull the code first to confirm.

Welcome from another Ottawa member. I have an obd2 scanner if you need your engine light codes.

Ill have a look at the Tone rings , i figured i would have to dissasemble the who thing to get at them but ill have a look . and ill keep the OS in mind.

I actually have a bluetooth adaptor with torque pro app to handle the codes . if for whatever reason it doesn't work i will let you know for sure , thanks

...but what a starting point !

It seems to be in great shape for a 13 year old vehicle.
