Ideas for mounting a power inverter
Hello,
Canadian Tire had a 1000w motomaster pure sine inverter for $199 so I grabbed one ($100 off). It isn't huge but I really can't seem to find a spot to mount it. In the Pro 4x there is a sub under the driver's seat and an amplifier under the pass seat and no room under the rear seats. I was thinking under the pass dash but not sure how much crap is back there.
Any ideas or comments would be appreciated!

I really wanna hide it and not take up any cargo space.
I am looking at alternatives including swapping it for a smaller one

Mine's a 1.5Gen, so not exactly the same, but just as an idea...
Mine is mounted right near the power outlet in the rear hatch, right ontop of the plastic trim by the side window.

Could you post an image? Mine weighs 7lbs so don't want it to rip out.

Is there underfloor storage in the back of a X?

Re: Ideas for mounting a power inverter
I think there is a bin under the floor cover. If it is running then it should have air flow added to keep it cool...computer case fans could work. They are 12v DC with various CFM ratings.

Re: Ideas for mounting a power inverter
I wanna keep my bin in the back for recovery gear and my jumper cables. If it's nice this weekend I might pull my passenger seat out and see if there is any room at all, if not at least I will have an idea of the space for another inverter. It would be nice to use some power tools at work. Often there is no power (new construction) or it is a hassle to find a hook up.

Re: Ideas for mounting a power inverter
On my gen1 I have my 1750w under the passenger seat...too bad you can't do the same.
In the past, if the inverter was large enough and had legs, I mounted it on the back of the rear seats like an amp.
I've seen people too mount them in or hanging below the lobo rack mod. Does it fit in that storage area in the trunk that the gen2 has?
You sure it doesn't fit under the rear seats or front seats?

Re: Ideas for mounting a power inverter
I've seen Surf's set up and I would like to do the same but the Coleman is unusually small for a 1000w inverter, most are much wider. Also his is not a pure sine wave inverter .
The cubby hole in the back is already serving a purpose and it 100% won't fit under the rear seats. My last attempt will be to remove the passenger seat this weekend and see if I can't jam the amplifier over to the left to make room. If it still doesn't fit I will have to return it and try again with a smaller model.
I will post my findings on here.
On another note my nav screen and sound went dead on me today after I picked up my hood protector from Nissan. I disconnected the battery after seeing all the fuses were ok. It seemed to reset it and it works now. Still have to get them to look it over cause it's a bit annoying happening on a week old truck!

Re: Ideas for mounting a power inverter
Took out the passenger seat. I tried a few ways to try and make the power inverter fit. Swinging the amplifier out of the way and reversing it on its bracket and laying the inverter upside down was the only way. That being said, to secure everything I would have to drill at least 3 more holes and the power inverter would just be floating unless I velcro it. Not ideal, but custom stuff is never perfect right off the bat.
I'm going to show the setup to my buddy and see what he thinks. Wanna know what he suggests for getting through the firewall also.

I was going to but I knew I was going to set it up for my buddy tomorrow who owns a repair shop. I'll take some pictures this time around.

Well ironically my 1750w decided to kick the bucket this weekend. Looks like I need a new one :S

Re: Ideas for mounting a power inverter
After loosely placing the amp and the inverter under the seat, my buddy said it could work, but he was concerned with the heat under the seat. The inverter sat real close to some wires (amp and air bag), the leather seat and the plastic molding. I pretty much just brought it back after that cause I dropped my phone during the process and it needs replacing :S
When I find a suitable replacement I will post an install thread.
