Cummins has announced their entry into the diesel conversion and re-powering market.

Their starting with the R2.8T 4-cyl, with additional options to follow.

I suggest anyone who would ever consider re-powering to complete the Cummins' survey. The survey appears to focus on prioritizing the order of release of the planned engines 2.8 (4-cyl), 5.0 (V8) and 6.7 (6-cyl).

Sweet!

Wonder if you have to go through MTO to change the fuel type for the VIN/

I believe the 2.8, 5.0 and 6.7 represent all of the current EPA compliant engines. The 3.0 or 5.9 may be a 'better' engine, depending on how you evaluate them, however to be sold for new installations compliance is likely required.

I'd like to see the 3.8 (168 hp, 442 ft.lbs) added to the list. Of there current engines I think the 3.8 is best suited to replace modern gas V6s and V8s.

^Agree with you there Miner. The 2.8 is just a little small for our trucks...might be fine for an old hard body or 2-dorr heep but not for the current frontier/xterras/pathys

Why is the 2.8 too small? The new Colorado is not a small pick-up and it has a 2.8 dirtymax.

The problem with these is always the price, availability, and tuneability of the vw 1.9L. There are Jettas making 300hp out of these with the equivalent bump in torque. The stock motors cost almost nothing and the upgrades are reasonably priced. I bet you for the same money you spend on one of these you can have a fully built and freshly rebuilt 1.9L that gets the same mileage.

Based on the power numbers. Even the stock dirtymax has better numbers.

If I ever put a diesel in mine, I would use the TD27Ti from a Terrano.
