Power door locks

Post by Adam »

I'm having an odd issue, I can hear the truck trying to lock itself randomly while I'm driving, stopped or even sitting in it with the engine off. You can hear the relay clicking under the dash. When it does this, both door switches will unlock but lock does nothing. I took the batteries out of both remotes for the day and it made no difference. Anyone had this happen before? 2002 Xterra.

I opened and closed all the doors to ensure they were latched, and the alarm sets with the fob, so all the sensors are working. One thing to note is it always LOCKS never unlocks by itself.

The thing already locked me out while it was running, glad I keep a spare key on me at all times.

Swap a relay to see if that changes anything maybe.

And of course, it has now stopped doing it. I'll try that if it acts up again, Ron. It is warmer out so maybe the contacts are separated enough.

Of course the issue never came back. I'm wondering if it had anything to do with sitting for a month while I waited to change the wiper transmission.
