Add a leaf source

Post by Jake From State Farm »

long time lurker, looking for direction!

first of all, Canadian sites which sell accessories/upgrade components for 2nd gen Frontier.
some sites i come across dont recognise my 2018 Frontier sv 4x4, change the manufacture date works occasionally.... :fist:

most importantly, im looking for a 1.5" Add a Leaf....cant for the life of me find a local source, maybe custom from a spring shop? anyone have a source, id appreciate....

if that fails ill be ordering a 1.5" block/shackles from PRG

i have 5100 front bilstein in the garage, looking for the best method to gain 2" without coil bucket contact!
originally i was going to swap the sv strut components to the 5100 and set at the 2" spring seat position, until i read it rebounds harsh....tops out.
ive read others set the bils at 1.5" then add a PRG 1/2" spacer....others say that causes CBC :x!
is there any other method ive over looked to achieve 2".

ill appreciate the help !
thanks

Welcome to the site, Jake!

Admittedly I don't know the answer to your question, but I am hoping someone will chime in shortly.

you could try carrier spring from BC not sure if they have add a leaf's or just full packs. As for direct canadian suppliers they are far and few between. I would if you can get it from a local spring shop (Like KW Spring which is close to where i am) or take the hit and order it from the US. I've had the same issue looking up parts for either my X or my fronty.

For $190 USD you can get an adjustable shackle and that is easy to install but the shipping sucks if you don't have the means to cross the border to pick it up. When your leaf pack sags (and it will) you can transfer the shackle to your new setup and/or rebuild your leaf pack at any local shop that deals with leafs springs. They usually take them apart and re-arch them and rebuild with new hardware.

As for the front, leave the 5100 as is and get a 1" spacer, it will provide about 1.5" of height. You could even have the spacer made from 1" scrap steel, just need a shop to drill the correct pattern for the strut bolts, would probably cost you $50 or less. Your control arms might still hit the coil buckets at full droop unless you get aftermarket control arms like SPC ($500 USD) but it wouldn't be that bad with 1.5" or less lift.

If you want the look over function, a body lift can be done in a weekend and leave the suspension untouched.

33" tires also gives you lift and you don't really have to do anything.
