Checking out Shoelace Creek

A couple of things....

I got an envelope in the mail with a CNTC sticker, membership card and a couple of cards to stick on windshields or whatever. To whomever is responsible for this action - thanks a bunch!

I'm going up to paddle through St. Nora Lake, Sherbourne Lake, Big Hawk Lake, Red Pine Lake, Nunikani Lake and then all the way back to St. Nora Lake. I'll be paddling right across the big water crossing on the trail. It will be nice to check it out without a whole trail ride resting on the outcome of the water depth. Hopefully it's low enough now that a truck could make it across. I'll post the results when I get back so we can maybe get another run up there before the season closes out for another year.
I was just up paddling in the Haliburton area last weekend and the water levels were significantly lower on some of those lakes. Maybe they are draining out some of the lakes in the region to keep the Trent-Severn water levels up?

The paddling was great. Warm days and cool, crisp nights. A good last weekend of paddling for the season.

The big, deep water crossing between Sherborne Lake and Big Hawk Lake is now only two puddles in the bottom of the trail, similar to the trip on the trail last October.
Looks like it could be time to head up that way again...

I'm game! Let's nail down a date and then get a good bunch together for it.

The middle to end of the month works best for me.

Here is a picture of the trail from the canoe portage. You can see the two puddles on the trail. The rest is dry.

I'm in for mid to late OCT, a Saturday trail run would be cool. Give me a chance to learn some things, meet new people and wheel all at the same time. :teeth:

However, my tires are iffy...they are M+S but I've been burned twice already in the mud. I don't think I'll have my new meats by then..I'm still game though, it's only a tug if I get stuck.

Last time we went there even AT tires with diff locker did not do well, there was very muddy hill, I think you will need mudders for that trail and skids, a lot of rocks.

Interesting...if it's late October I'll hopefully have my new tires. I have an apprenticeship grant coming around then. We'll see, it's no fun being the guy who always gets stuck. Plus I only have stock skid plates. When I install my lift I'll take measurements and have some custom skids cut on the water jet at work.

I guess I'll see how things play out. I'd really like to go.
