Re: Titan Swap Anyone?
As for progress this week..... pretty disappointing. The camber bolts on the LCA were cold welded to the bushing. I've tried impact wrenches, breaker bars, penetrating oil, tourching, swearing, and crying but the bolt wouldnt let go. I had no choice but to cut the LCA in order to get a grinder in there.. It took 6 tempered sawzall blades and a lots of griding to get through those bolts. No going back now. Should have the other side done this weekend.

Re: Titan Swap Anyone?
Had that happen on the rear suspension on my buddies Civic, that sucked!
With the wider stance on the front, what's done to the rear?

Theres a deaver 2-pack and extended travel Bilstien's but the front sits few inches higher and wider now. For now to keep up I will cheat with Shackles and spacers. Titan Diff, deaver 10pack, and SAW's in the near future...Nd4SpdSe wrote:Had that happen on the rear suspension on my buddies Civic, that sucked!

Re: Titan Swap Anyone?
Before i get ahead of myself I need to finish up the front. I've finished installing the control arms, beefed up the bumpstops, had to buy new sway bar endlinks since the savages at the junk yard took a tourch to the ones that came with the titan bar.
I found a sweet shop, "Fluidline", that made up stainless braided brake lines. I was impressed, there the only guys in town that would make a custom flex line, they built it and pressure tested it to 4000PSI infront of me.
Im going to convert the tie rods, to a Heim joint setup. They will be stronger than the awkward shape tie rod. Eric at 'Staangs Fab' suggested the idea, he going to fab something up for me.
I've got the measurements for the axle shaft extension had to make a cheezy jig to keep them aligned. The CV's only flex /extend 10-15mm with extended travel. The titan arms will allow for a total travel close to 12" but my coils will only allow 9 -10"

Re: Titan Swap Anyone?
I'm not promising stainless will defeat winter salt, but it can't hurt. The ideal would be a rubber boot full of grease over the joint I think.

Condoms? Well, that was more of a Titan theme than I thought you were going for, but whatever.FrontyFlyer wrote: that would be the ideal but i duno how i'd go about finding a boot. Condom maybe? got lots lying around, nobody likes those!

Re: Titan Swap Anyone?
Wow dude, you are going through way too much work to keep that stock R180A front diff. the WHOLE point of a full titan swap is to get the M205 front diff and titan half shafts for a much beefier set up, along with the extended track width and travel.
Lol, I'm titan swapping the X real soon, just have to get extended brake lines and finish machining my rear wheel spacers. I've spent about $400 so far on upper and lower control arms and axle shafts haha. Dude, titan shafts are $50 bucks from a wrecker. Look at all the BS you are going through. IMO, much better to ditch the stock diff and axles and rock 2wd until you can source out a M205 from a titan, armada or infinity QX56. they can be found for $500 in the US...problem is getting one in Canada. I pulled my front drive train last week in preparation for the swap. I'm also going with 35" tires So in case you need another set of axle shafts, I have two right here for ya.
If you wheel the second gen hard....you'll blow that front diff. trust me, I'm on my third (was, its under my bench at work now).

Re: Titan Swap Anyone?
Read his build thread: he is fully aware of the weak diffs, and wanted to go with the M205, but so far can't find the proper gear ratios. Until he can source that, he's running the weaker diffs, which he has already blown up a few times.dark_knight wrote:Wow dude, you are going through way too much work to keep that stock R180A front diff. the WHOLE point of a full titan swap is to get the M205 front diff and titan half shafts for a much beefier set up, along with the extended track width and travel.
