Re: What did you do to your rig today?
I installed a CB in my truck today, need to redo the power wires because I keep getting a little shock everytime I get out of it. Here are some pictures,
I used industreal velcro to hold the CB in place so it can be easily removed, and some weather striping to cushion it, hopefully it holds up over big bumps.

They would, but the driver's side manifold and cat are already brand new so I'm just putting in a regular replacement manifold for now I looked at that pretty hard as an option, but I just couldn't justify the cost difference right now.PiDGE wrote:headers will fix that^^^^^^^

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Got the lads at Milton to fix a driver's side window that jammed in the down position.
It is cruel irony that - after a trip to Jamaica - I would have to drive in three degrees with the window open.
I don't know what it is with my truck, but whenever I go to a place warm, a bunch of stuff goes bad when I get back. I can go into Algonquin for 10 days, and return, and all is fine. But somewhere warm, and the truck is all offended. My sure-drain thing for the oil pan was pooched, too, when I got to the truck in Toronto. There was a big puddle of oil on the pavement. (I still had the original one in there Jayman, and have now put in the one you mailed me. Maybe they wear out, or get dirt into them?)

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Got my new manifold installed yesterday. Found it wasn't the only problem, the weld on the flange at the primary cat to manifold connection had cracked causing a much larger leak than the cracked manifold itself was causing. The cat piping and flange themselves looked good still so they welded the flange back on "good and strong" for me. They told me it should hold up for a good long while anyways as the metal wasn't rotting, it had just cracked.
What a difference. It is so much quieter, and all I hear now is the new Nismo exhaust. Finally, I'm happy.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Installed my boost gauge and inset my scangauge into the dash while I was at it.
Also voided the warranty on my gauge before I even got it connected to anything. That's what happens when it rolls off your workbench and you have to take it apart to get it to read correctly again. It got dented, so there was no warranty as soon as it hit the ground. I was all like Thankfully after fiddling with it for a bit I got it back pretty close to bang on - enough that I'm not going to worry about anyways.

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Indeed it's easy to know. Whe the truck is off, you should be sitting a 0, and at idle (if idling properly), you should be sitting around 20-21 inMg, and if you experience boost drop, you're watch your boost go from 6-7 (pending ATX or MT) to 2, and sit at always 2 until you restart the truck. You'll see the attitude of the truck, depending on the mood you'll watch it when you're driving, you'll see some instance where youre driving along, and that it'll be more towards 0 than usual. The more towards 0, the harder it's working. Funny when the cam profile changes around 3200rpm, the gauge goes down, so I'm always wondering that it's better to be doing 117km/h than 115km/h (mtx gearing)

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Yep, sounds about right on. I'm getting about -20 on idle. I put a description of my other readings in the how-to I just made up, but it seems like it's in line with what it should be. Glad I got it for $55 instead of at full pop lol.Nd4SpdSe wrote:Indeed it's easy to know. Put another patch on the frame today. Another one down 1 more to go. My welds don't look show car quality but I've been told they'll hold

Re: What did you do to your rig today?
Pulled the sliders off the truck yesterday - took almost 3 hours Had to cut the bolts. And on the passenger side there was this solid metal box attached to the frame (about 3"x3"x2") that was completely in the way. Wrestled with it for a very long time til I got it got off. Anyone have any idea what it might have been? Solid piece of metal wrapped in rubber and attached to the frame? I have an idea: rust sink thingy.
For re-installation, I think I'll drill straight thru the frame and use grade 8 bolts. Wondering about crushing the frame, though. Maybe a fish plate on the inside of the frame to spread the load? Thoughts?
So, sliders off. Want to get them sandblasted before painting. Next:
- repair rockers;
- repair rear fenders where Truxus like to tear metal;
- replace front shocks;
- get over to Simon's to do skidderz.
Winter was hard this year on the poor old truck. Needs a little TLC to get her back to being shiny.

Scott,

Drill the hole larger on one side of the frame than the other so the spacer only goes in from one side. Slide whatever bolt through. Might be worth stainless bolts with anti-seize.
