Leaving Ontario
Unfortunately I'm (almost certainly) being posted to Cold Lake, Alberta in January.
Just started getting into the offroading thing with CNTC and now I gotta move 3600km away
Maybe I can convince them to do a flyby with an F18 at AW16

Murphy's law. Think of the place you didn't want to be sent and there you go
When they do the flyby make sure they bring you along

Re: Leaving Ontario
Right?! I half expected Cold Lake, but when I saw there were like 15 openings for Trenton, I got my hopes up, but was shot down.
I'm not really bummed about going to Cold Lake, but I don't know how I'll handle the deployments and out of country taskings (... Hawaii. Dang, right?). Having a dog and stuff makes it a little difficult without someone to take care of him while I'm gone.
I'll try to pull some strings lmao

Re: Leaving Ontario
Hahaha, but what will I wheel while I spend 9 days driving to Cold Lake?!
Seriously, 500km a day max, so... 9 days of travel with paid hotels and food. Hell yeah I'll find some trails!
Maybe we should organize a CNTC overland Cross-Canada trip/convoy lol

There will be some off roading around there. Hopefully this move doesn't come true.

Re: Leaving Ontario
My sister and Brother in law are both posted in Cold lake right now , they do own dogs , so they can probably assist with information on what you can do for your dog if you go out of town.

Re: Leaving Ontario
I'm sure there's a kennel or a friend that can take care of him if I get tasked out/deployed. Plus my father lives in Stoney Plain, so I could possibly make arrangements with him. I'm not looking forward to being broke
I'm about 99% sure I'll be posted there. It'll be nice if it turns out they need me in Trenton though
Fort Mac is about 4 1/2 hours north from Cold Lake. Edmonton is about 3 hours West of Cold Lake.

Re: Leaving Ontario
Ya, I know the feeling, been 4 years now that I've been in Quebec. Wow, really been 4 years already. Ya, I sadly hasn't been able to wheel with the CNTC guys either. I bought my truck, started to get into it with the local guys, discovered CNTC and did AW. 8 months later, I lost my job and spend a year striggling. From there, joined the army, and was shuffled between St-Jean, Kingston, Petawawa, Kingston, Petawawa, Kingston and to finally Valcartier. I love the people and the city for what it has to offer, but the province sucks. I'd love to move back to Ontariio, but I've got a girlfriend in Quebec now and might end up selling down here if all goes well before I get posted out at some point, cause it can/will happen. I did make some good friends and wheeled with the Kingston guys,
It sucks, I know how you feel, but you never know what live will bring.
