Anyone else running stock.
I have been to a few coffee meets and trail runs, and no one else has a stock truck.
If you do run a stock truck chime in here. What trails have you been on?

Re: Anyone else running stock.
I ran the hydroline stock except for 33s (you don't need a lift on a 2nd gen X for 33s)
I ran Bob C with the same but also 2" front spacers, and sliders, so almost stock.

Re: Anyone else running stock.
Jon and Sherri who were at the run were stock. I believe Bushpig is stock. There are others, though, I can't think of them at the moment.

Re: Anyone else running stock.
We're stock as well. Powa' to the Stockies!!!! Oh no.. wait... We're modified. We've removed our mudflaps and snapped our rear sway bar. Aside from that - we are stock.
Hydroline is pretty much the only runs that we've been on along with the run up in Grimsby on the Mud Street's up there. We've done plenty of logging and fire roads WAAAAAY up north but Hydroline is probably the most technical trail we've been on.

Re: Anyone else running stock.
I ran Hydroline last year stock. Helped pull a dead pathy off the trail too . Did the Grimsby mud stock as well. Got stuck a few times mind you.
Now I've got 31's, I'm not sure how it compares to stock tires size wise, but thats pretty well about it.
Aside from tire, me=Stock

Re: Anyone else running stock.
If putting 33's on is a mod it isn't much of one. It adds .5" of clearance. Which is why I mentioned it. Xtrapol8 did the same trail stock with his stock 32's and had no issues.petespath wrote:Rev thats "moded" I mean bare bones stock. Who's out there? Am I alone here at CNTC the outcast.. the stocker!

So, it wasn't just mosquito's and black flies up in Minden? It's MOD BUGS too? The what-have-you-done-to-your-rig thread is going to get real big real quick...

As long as you spot it out, and know your trucks limits, you"ll be fine!

I am not alone...we took over the mall now the world.
You know it feels good to wheel and you think your pretty good, then you go to the mall and park beside the same truck driven by "soccer mom" and it brings you down.
My new mod, pair of fuzzy and dice and mud.

Re: Anyone else running stock.
Stock = the form your truck came in from the dealership/factory. So if your truck came with 33" m/t's as opposed to street tires then I guess that's still stock.
Petespath,
I feel your pain man. I was stock too and had a horrible turn out in Grimsby. Are you posting this thread because you are gauging whether or not you are going to let the mod bug bite you too? Just curious that's all. If you want to stay stock that's cool too. I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all. The only downfall really is being limited to the trails which you can realistically go on without wrecking your rig or relying on everyone to get you through a trail.
What are your plans?

I know what stock means. I said stock with 33's. Would you prefer stock except for 33's?steelcityslicker wrote:Stock = the form your truck came in from the dealership/factory. So if your truck came with 33" m/t's as opposed to street tires then I guess that's still stock.

Easy there big fella, just clarifying. It didn't appear like you knew what he meant. And no, no need to clarify any further. Thanks though.

Technically speaking, and I suspect Geoffey would agree, the latter would have been correct"er" I think, first gen speaking anyway, that the minute we hear 33's we assume MODS, 3 + 2 or some other variation.
Although not stock now, I did run a few things stock. Save for removing my side rails and mud flaps. I like the concept of a capable stock vehicle, but it came down to nerves....risk management and acceptance of consequences. In the end, my nerves and tolerance for abuse from the missus, turned into mods and armour. As Bender once put it..."what you can't ride over, glide over"....besides, when I am out getting groceries I prefer my grocery getter stands out in the crowd.
