Rock Sliders

Anyone have any experience with Trail-Gear Rock Sliders?

There are not many Sliders built for the Titan, PRG was rumoured to be working on them last year and Demello Offroad has made them before, so I'm looking at a universal or custom set.

I don't think so, all of their pieces seem to be HREW. I'm thinking of contacting them about building a longer bar if I do I'll ask about material options. Do you think the application requires the tighter tolerances and higher yield strength of DOM tubing?

Yes!

You are bolting on armour to the frame of your full size pickup, expecting it to protect you from rocks when you slam the whole weight of your Titan on them. I would want stronger material for sure.

Black Widow Off-Road is currently working on some numbers for me for a set of there new, really new, may not even exist yet, Xtreme Duty Sliders

They launched a set for Frontiers on clubfrontier.org and mentioned they would be building for most/all current Nissan trucks. They received a great reaction and a lot of constructive feedback, which the immidiatly responded to renaming the original Sliders the Sport or Street model and taking all the info and launching the Xtreme Duty design

I contacted them on Sunday for info on the Xtreme model for the Titan, the sales manager responded back to me today to get details on coating (Paint, Powder Coat, Bare or Line-X) and to reassure me that they were working on my request I should have all the details tomorrow. Again

So...what material? Price I am sure will be shocking! Whats the difference between all of their products ( strength wise?). What I am asking is, why can't they just call them sliders, with out the hype and usage of the word Extreme!"?

They originally released "Sliders" and the Frontier guys basically told them they looked good but were not sufficiently braced or mounted for the use they had planned for them. These hence got relaunched as the "Sport Slider". I'm hoping the "Xtreme" is built as strong as the CAD drawings looked, but I will not know until they send me the info.

WOW! Three designs of sliders to basically...no no, actually, do the same thing! Sliders are just that! To slide along rocks while carrying the weight of said vehicle. So the first 2 designs failed if I understand the situation, and you are hoping the "Extreme" edition will be sufficient when the first 2 didn't hold up against little brother, the Frontier?

Will be interesting for sure to see what they send you. Definetly keep us updated, and keep on them to design bullet proof sliders for your baby. ;)

Only two designs: The original "Slider" now called the "Street Slider" didn't get a chance to fail, the Frontier guys were improving it before anyone had them. The "Xtreme" appears to be all new and the only information so far is CAD drawings and the suggestions gathered from the original launch.
